Upcoming Event: Disaster During Lockdown Workshop

Critical Ops to Co-Facilitate Workshop at 100th Annual Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting

As natural and human-made threats, shocks, and stressors continue to impact transportation systems, sustainability, security, and resilience must remain intact. Critical Ops is co-facilitating Workshop 1035 - A Disaster During Lockdown: An Exercise in Managing the Logistics, Potential Evacuations and Key Aspects of Multiple Disruptive Events during the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting. The event will be conducted virtually on January 22, 2021 from 10AM-1PM EST.

Participants will learn and share skills involving multiple disasters, disciplines, and collaborations. Virtual breakout groups will be held to discuss managing an internal public health emergency while navigating simulated natural disasters and disruptions in the supply chains. Potential evacuations, security challenges, and other key decisions of increased size, frequency, and complexity will be presented and discussed. Attendees will also receive updates on supporting research including NCHRP 20-116: An Emergency Management Playbook for State Transportation Agencies, NCHRP 20-124: Deploying Transportation Security Practices in State DOTs, and NCHRP 20-125: Strategies for Incorporating Resilience into Transportation Networks.

Session Highlights:

  • Identifies the immediate and long-term impacts of multiple disasters on a global audience.
  • Features discussions on supply chain disruptions, widespread demonstrations, and workforce complications.
  • Embeds three research projects into a singular focus (See above paragraph).
  • Part one of a series of implementation activities under NCHRP 20-124.

Future events related to NCHRP 20-124 are regional and multi-state focused and offered in hybrid formats. Participants are encouraged to contact Critical Ops to attend an event in 2021.
